What happens when everything is about identity

Sorry, but this stuff makes me laugh.  This is the latest from the party that gave us the “squad”:

Allison Jaslow, executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), resigned on Monday amid complaints that the DCCC is too white. No, seriously, that’s the complaint. Black and Hispanic lawmakers say the DCCC, the Democrats’ major campaign arm, lacks racial diversity and is not doing enough to reach Latino voters and hire consultants of color.

On Sunday, Hispanic Reps. Vicente González (D-Texas) and Filemon Vela (D-Texas) called for Jaslow’s resignation in a statement to Politico. DCCC Chairwoman Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.) flew back to Washington, D.C., for a meeting Monday, despite having left with the rest of Congress for the August recess. Jaslow resigned at that meeting, Politico reported.

“The DCCC is now in complete chaos,” Gonzalez and Vela said in their statement. “The single most immediate action that Cheri Bustos can take to restore confidence in the organization and to promote diversity is to appoint a qualified person of color, of which there are many, as executive director at once. We find the silence of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus on this issue to be deafening.”

Again, I have to laugh.

So the DCCC is too white?  Not a word about the talent of the people but instead it’s all about their race.  I guess that white liberals are out!

First, what’s this nonsense about hiring a qualified person of color?  So only persons of color need apply?

Second, what’s this about hiring more consultants for the Latino voter?  Don’t they already get 70% of the vote?  Are they concerned that Hispanics will figure out how Democrats are the pro-abortion party?

The Democrats have gone insane.  If they lose they will blame it on racism.  If they win they will blame their inability to govern on racism, too.

What a disgrace of a party!

Obsessed with what people are not thinking about!

It’s amazing how disconnected from reality the Democrats are.  To be fair, it may not be the majority of the party, but the deluded are the ones getting the attention.

In fact, so many Democrats, especially the elected black congressmen, seem to be living in 1949 Mississippi and relishing the fact that Jackie Robinson is playing second base for the Brooklyn Dodgers.  It’s hard to believe that they don’t see the incredible progress that blacks have made in the U.S.

A recent article by Michael Goodwin is right on target:

To judge by what they say and do, Democrats are obsessed with two topics: impeachment and race. With Robert Mueller’s disastrous performance driving a stake through the heart of the former, race is shaping up as a defining issue in this week’s second round of presidential debates.

As a New York Times article put it, “The searing fight over race, inequality and history has come to dominate the Democratic presidential contest.”

Count that as an understatement.

So what are their solutions to deal with our race problem?  They don’t have any.  All they tell is that everyone is a racist, and then everyone is a racist again.

Do they have any solutions for crime problems?  I don’t hear any.

Public schools?  I don’t hear anything except that many Democrats send their kids to private schools and away from the neighborhoods.

As for impeachment, what’s the article that they plan to vote on?  I guess that they will get around to that sooner or later.

Impeachment and race may work in the primaries but will fail miserably in the general election.

Just ask the people who live in Baltimore

leave a comment »

Back in the 1970s, I attended school in Maryland and spent a lot of time in Baltimore.  I was there during a charmed Renaissance headed by mayor and then Governor William Schaeffer.  He oversaw the investment and development of the Inner Harbor and all those residential areas that went up downtown.  It was wonderful, and going downtown was great.

Lately, it’s not so pretty.  The city is a disaster and the one-party rule does not help.

President Trump is challenging Representative Elijah Cummings to do something about his district for a change.  As expected, President Trump is being called a racist for holding “sacred cows” like Representative Cummings accountable.

As Seth Barron wrote:

The operative rule in politics these days seems to be that any criticism of a non-white politician from anywhere to their right is, by definition, a racist attack. Nothing Trump said pertained in any way to Elijah Cummings’s skin color or ethnicity, only to his failure as a legislator and political leader to do anything to improve his district. The real question is: Is he right?

In May, the New York Times Magazine ran a cover story called, “The Tragedy of Baltimore.”

The story details how, in the wake of the 2015 riots — or “uprising” in the view of those who imagine the torching of a neighborhood CVS and the intentional sabotage of the firefighters’ equipment to be revolutionary actions — Baltimore went from bad to horrible: “nothing less than a failure of order and governance the likes of which few American cities have seen in years.”

By any measure of systemic urban collapse, Baltimore is, as Trump said “very dangerous & filthy.”

Among the largest 30 American cities, Baltimore has the highest crime rate, and is a close second to Detroit for the highest rate of violent crime.

But for murders, Baltimore is second to no other city, with more than 50 homicides per 100,000 people.

That puts Charm City in the ranks of Jamaica, Venezuela, and El Salvador in terms of lethality.

Charm city no more, as my old friends who live there will tell you.  In fact, most of my old friends live in the suburbs and avoid the city at all costs.

Where does it go from here?   Hopefully, it will lead more local citizens to question the Democrats running their cities.  Maybe it will occur to some of them that change would be a good thing.
