Happy # 70 Amos Otis

leave a comment »

We say happy # 70 to Amos Otis, one of the best players of the 1970s.

Otis was one of the key pieces of the Kansas City Royals who won the AL West in 1976, 1977, 1978 and finally made it to the World Series in 1980.    They were a very complete team, from George Brett to Frank White to superb pitching.

Otis was a very good outfielder and had great career numbers:  .277 batting average, a very good .343 On Base average, 2,020 hits, 193 HR & 1,007 RBI in 1,998 games.   And he stole 346 bases.

He was an AL All Star 5 times (1970, 1971, 1972, 1973 & 1976)  and AL Gold Glove (1971, 1973 & 1974).
