1962: The film “To kill a mockingbird” opened in the US

On this week in 1962, “To Kill a Mockingbird”, a film based on the 1960 Pulitzer Prize novel by Harper Lee, opened in US theaters.    The story was about a black man falsely accused of raping a white woman.    

It is a great movie and earned many awards, such as eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won three Oscars, including Best Actor for Gregory Peck.
