Michael Young will join the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame this weekend.     He will be formally added on a pre-game ceremony on Saturday night.

Michael Young is one of my all time favorite players.

His numbers were awesome:  .300 career batting average, 2,375 hits in 1,970 games plus 1,030 RBI.   He won a batting title in 2005 and led the AL in hits several times.   He came playing second, switched to shortstop in 2004 and finished at third in 2010.    He was also used at first and DH the last season.    Young was a key player in the 2010 and 2011 AL pennants.

Off the field, he was the team leader because he played hard and kept everybody loose in the clubhouse.

Michael Young joined the Rangers’ office and works with young players in the system.
